Training workshop in the middle of an Akha village, on human reproduction and hygiene.
For the presentation GTZ had trained and prepared a few women from the village itself. The training material, posters, were tacked up on the outside wall of ahouse, and nearly the entire village came and sat down. I’ve taught family planning education workshops myself in NZ about 20 years ago, and was fascinated by the approach. When I say the whole village, it was indeed men and women of all ages, little children, teenagers, and a smattering of dogs,chickens and roosters. People seemed interested and relaxed about it all, a bit of joking, a few crying babies needed feeding, and sometimes a minor dog fight,but to judge by the attention of the crowd, it was a successful workshop.
