The Akha village of ban Seden has an adult literacy class, taught at night, since during the day, the people are out working in the fields. It gets dark early, and the village has no electricity, so the class is taught by candle light. Most of these people have probably worked a ten hour day in the fields, but are determined to learn.

I considered using flash, but that killed the atmosphere and was too intrusive. A tripod was to clumsy under the circumstances, so all of this was handheld.
